Natural Snoring Remedies
There are many natural snoring remedies to help you cure snoring naturally. Find a natural snoring remedy that works for you.
These tips to stop snoring will help you identify the right home remedy for snoring to make the difference for you.
1. Sleep in a different position.
Snoring occurs when the tongue, tonsils, soft palate and the muscles in the back of the throat touch during sleep, creating a vibrating sound. Initially, snoring occurs when the snorer lies on their back and the tongue slips back, partially obstructing the airways. For people like this, a great natural snoring remedy is to sleep on the side.
Another way to cure snoring naturally is suggested by the American Academy of Otolaryngology is to raise the head of the bed four inches, using blocks or a wedge beneath the head of the mattress.
If you find that snoring occurs in all sleeping positions, it is probably time to examine your lifestyle.

. Drop 10% of body weight.
Heavy people often have heavy neck tissue. If you are overweight, losing a small amount of weight - just 10% of your body weight -- can make a big improvement. This is not always popular with snorers, but is one of the best tips to stop snoring. Some simple ways to drop weight are to only eat starchy foods like pasta, bread, rice and potatoes as part of breakfast and lunch, and not later in the day. Also to eat more green vegetables, particularly with your evening meal.
3. Keep away from alcohol and sedatives.
Anything that causes sleepiness, like medications or alcohol, can also cause snoring because they curb your breathing. If snoring is due to having a few drinks or a sedative at night, try cutting back or stopping entirely. If you're not convinced, use a trial period for say three weeks and see whether your bed partner reports an improvement. You might also find you feel more refreshed during the day. Again, not always a popular suggestion, but a natural snoring remedy that works for a lot of people.
4. Inhale steam
Nasal blockage is a common cause of snoring. You can reduce night-time congestion and cure snoring naturally by breathing steam through your nose prior to bed. Steam vaporizers are good for this or just the old-fashioned approach of covering your head with a towel and breathing in steam from a saucepan of water.
5. Nasal strips.
These can provide immediate relief from congestion and may also reduce snoring.
Breathing is easier when nostrils are wide open, so nasal strips, which stick to the nose and hold the nostrils open a little wider than normal, can help if snoring is due to nasal congestion. They will not reduce snoring, however, if it comes from the tongue or soft palate.
