Sleepwalking In ChildrenSleepwalking in children is where a child partially awakens in the night and walks around or does other actions with no memory of having done so. Your child might sit upright in bed and rub their eyes and fiddle with clothing. He or she might get out of bed and walk, looking confused. Your child's movements may be clumsy and will not respond to questions. Firstly, it is critical to keep your child safe and remove any dangerous objects. Keep your child away from open stairways, doors and windows if you can by gently guiding him or her back to bed. Don't shout, shake or try to wake your child. Sleepwalking tends to stop as children get older. It is worth talking to your doctor if it persists for a long time. Try to observe if your child tends to sleepwalk a certain time after falling asleep. If this is predictable, you can try waking your child 15 minutes before he or she is likely to sleepwalk - this sometimes helps, but check with your doctor before trying anything.
