Symptoms of Narcolepsy


The symptoms of narcolepsy are:

Excessive daytime sleepiness: This interferes with normal daily activities. People with excessive daytime sleepiness report of mental fogginess, lack of energy and concentration, poor memory, depression and exhaustion.

Cataplexy: This problem is a sudden loss of muscle tone, leading to a feeling of weakness and a loss of voluntary muscle control. There may be slurred speech and bodily collapse, often caused by an intense feeling of surprise, anger or laughter.

Hallucinations: In general, these delusions are strong and terrifying. The content is mainly images, but the other senses can be involved.

Sleep Paralysis: This problem concerns a temporary inability to move or speak while falling asleep and waking. These episodes are usually brief, lasting from a few seconds to several minutes. After the end of the episode, people quickly regain their full potential to move and speak.
